Red, blue and metallic hues open a window to a tender paradisial scene. As an expert in this ancient art, artisan Qosimov Jasur works with brass to create this round wall art enriched with the region's classic floral patterns. Made as an homage to Uzbekistan, the design features a hand-painted portrait of a loving couple enjoying the natural landscapes—all in a palette of bright hues.

THE STORY BEHIND THE PRODUCT

Artisan Organization: Qosimov Jasur

Country: Silk Road

"My name is Qosimov Jasur and it was my father who sparked my interest in this craft. He has been involved in carving for over 50 years. I became interested after witnessing his work. I began learning carving in 2010. Early on, I focused on drawing patterns on paper. When I first started working as a carver, I drew a checkered leaf pattern. Since 2013, I have been working independently.

The tradition of this art endures from century to century. I am the successor of the Qosimov dynasty's craft, and I have made a profound impact on the applied arts of Uzbekistan during my lifetime. I have passed on my knowledge, talent, skills, and secrets to my students. These students, in turn, have gone on to train their own and became renowned masters in their craft.""
