THE STORY BEHIND THE PRODUCT
Artisan Organization: Vladimir Puchkovskiy
Country: Silk Road
"My name is Vladimir Puchkovskiy and I am from Uzbekistan. I used to paint on canvas, but in 2003 I starting using batik on fabric and hand-quilted works. The reason I started working with this technique is that my wife is a fashion designer and she suggested trying painting on fabric. I am an innovator in my technique, my wall hangers have a unique style and design. I use traditional fabrics of local production. The fabrics (beqasam, shoyi, adras, etc.) are made by Uzbek masters in Fergana valley.
"I am a participant in numerous international and national exhibitions and have been a member of the Union of Artists of Uzbekistan since 2000.
"I hope that my works bring warmth and joy to the homes and offices where they are hung. We are all connected with creativity and art.""
