THE STORY BEHIND THE PRODUCT
Artisan Organization: Tatevik Ghaltakhchyan
Country: Armenia
"Hello, I'm Tatevik Ghaltakhchyan, a historian who stumbled upon a different form of storytelling in the area of handmade crafts. While my days were filled with the pages of history at the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, my sister Shushan and I uncovered a shared passion for hands-on creation, a tradition passed down by our wonderful mother, our guiding star. Crafting by hand brings a unique joy and satisfaction that transcends the rigors of academic pursuits. For me, pottery, in particular, is like an open canvas offering limitless possibilities. The magic lies in not knowing what the final piece will look like—a lot like life's unpredictable dance.
Clay has a character all of its own. It defies control, demanding understanding and respect. Working with it becomes a journey in humility, patience, and self-discovery. My life's journey in art and business knows no borders; my creations resonate with hearts worldwide, reminding me that we're all connected through the universal language of art. Now, with an art studio of my own, I've created a haven—a calm space to navigate life's challenges. Beyond personal fulfillment, my deepest wish is to revive the love for arts and crafts, inspiring others to transform their hobbies into meaningful expressions of creativity. The funds for this venture come from the hands of those who appreciate our clay-crafted creations—pieces born from the soul of Armenia's nature, the heartbeat of Armenian culture, and the delicate traditions of ceramics and miniatures. Each creation tells a story, weaving together our heritage with the present. Through my work, I aspire not only to create art but also to awaken the artist in everyone, fostering a renewed love for the arts and craftsmanship.""
