"My name is Marina Popova, I am self-taught, and my interest in crafting began in 2013 when a needlework store opened near my house, offering fascinating materials for creative projects. I started by making elastic bracelets using simple plastic and glass beads, which I sold. A year later, I transitioned to working with natural stones. To put it mildly, my early creations had an unusual format. It took me a while to find my artistic direction and showcase a diverse range of products.
I drew inspiration from the internet and the works of local master artisans displayed at exhibitions. This inspiration led me to create unique, handmade products. Each year, I've honed my skills, producing more intriguing works and nurturing my creativity. Working with natural stones is particularly engaging. While the materials aren't cheap, they are durable and pleasant to handle, offering limitless possibilities for crafting beauty and uniqueness.
My creative spirit was undoubtedly influenced by my grandmother, a highly creative person with expertise in knitting, which she also sold. This creative spark was passed down to me, and I realized I couldn't live without creativity seven years ago. That's when my true potential started to blossom.
Inspiration often strikes spontaneously, but my mood is a vital factor in my creative process. I can adjust my mood with a diverse selection of music and intriguing, colorful characters from various sources. Even the time of year affects my creative inspiration. When I sit down to work, music is a must; its style and mood vary based on the project, making it an integral part of my creative process.
I use standard tools such as wire cutters, round pliers, and regular pliers to assemble my products. I handcraft braided bracelets, infusing creativity into their design, which captures the attention of visitors and buyers at exhibitions. The recognition and praise I receive motivate and inspire me to embark on new creative endeavors.
I'm fortunate to have the unwavering support of my parents and older brother, who understand my creative journey. While I share some traits with my family, I strive to remain true to myself and preserve my unique personality.
Throughout my life, I've had diverse experiences interacting with various people, some positive and some not. However, each person has contributed to my growth and experience, for which I'm appreciative, even if they are no longer part of my life.
I am content with the person I have become, although there is always room for personal growth. I handle everything independently; I am my own boss, employer, and master of my craft.
In the future, I hope to teach and inspire other creative individuals, passing on my legacy and guiding them on how to approach and create their own unique, handmade products. I embrace my individuality and the fact that I am different from others, and I believe it is this uniqueness that draws people to me and my creative work.
