THE STORY BEHIND THE PRODUCT
Artisan Organization: Gulbahor Chorieva
Country: Silk Road
"My name is Gulbahor Chorieva and the beginning of my journey in handicraft was inspired by my mother and grandmother. They were very experienced in iroki embroidery and I have always watched with fascination as they create beautiful patterns on fabric. I observed their work, asked questions and helped them when needed. In addition, I independently studied the art of embroidery. I read books, watched video tutorials, and studied various resources on the Internet that provided information about iroki embroidery. I also attended workshops and exhibitions to get additional inspiration and new ideas.
"Iroki embroidery is a significant heritage and cultural tradition in our region. The history of this craft is rooted in ancient times and is connected with the reign of Amir Temur, the rich culture and history of our people. Iroki-style embroidery has been developed and perfected by our ancestors for centuries. It is closely connected with our way of life, national symbols and traditions. Each pattern and design in iroki embroidery has a history and symbolic meaning that is passed down from generation to generation.
"I use traditional production techniques in my embroidery. This includes the use of manual skills and techniques passed down from master to apprentice. I pay special attention to detail, precision and quality of every stitch to achieve a high level of craftsmanship and to preserve the originality of my craft. All these elements, together with the history and importance of iroki embroidery in our community, makes my work special and valuable. I take pride in passing on this heritage and tradition and strive to preserve its originality and beauty in every piece I create.""
