THE STORY BEHIND THE PRODUCT
Artisan Organization: Yustiana Dewi
Country: Bali and Java
"My name is Yustiana Dewi. I was born in Denpasar in 1997. Now I live in Celuk Village, Gianyar, a village that is well known abroad for its silver crafts. I was born to parents who were silversmiths. My father is also a seller of tools and materials for making silver crafts. My grandfather was also a silver craftsman whose handicrafts were sold directly by my grandmother to traditional markets at that time. This is what was passed down to my father and then to me.
"I went to a school not far from home. However, when I was in high school, I continued my education in Denpasar City. When I finished high school, I decided to continue my studies at one of the universities in North Bali, namely Singaraja University, majoring in mathematics. I really like dancing; as a Balinese girl, dancing is our free time activity. I have been learning to dance since I was 5 years old. My dancing talent was passed down by my grandmother, who used to be a dance teacher.
"It is a challenge to be able to produce different crafts from other craftsmen. Most of my works are inspired by nature. Nature gives many colors to our lives, including my designs and works. I will work with Novica and present my best and latest designs in order to reach a wider market. I hope this collaboration goes well in the future." "
