Mexican artist Rommy draws inspiration from his country's natural beauty to create this giclée print that honors the region's history. Putting his expertise and skill into practice, Rommy recreates the traditional butterfly stamp using ink in a palette of blue, red and black hues. The artwork comes stretched, ready to add a little piece of Mexico's culture to your interiors.

THE STORY BEHIND THE PRODUCT

Artisan Organization: Rommy

Country: Mexico

"Hi! My name is Rommy and I come from a family of jewelers, so from a very young age I felt the need to create my own type of work. On my sixth birthday, I was given my first box of paints, and I immediately loved to paint. That's when my artistic career began. I took part in art contests when I was in elementary school and in junior high. When I was a senior at school, I enrolled in the Fine Arts Institute in the state of San Luis Potosí. I studied engineering when I went to university."

"After graduation I went to San Miguel Allende (Guanajuato) to further pursue my studies in fine arts. That's when I first got in touch with Mexican artesanias. I became aware of how people from other continents truly appreciated Mexican traditional arts and crafts. Others' admiration for Mexican artistry inspired me to find out more about it and to learn about it. In so doing, I developed a profound love for my country.

"Later on I moved to the state of Jalisco, where I got to learn about a whole new realm of traditional artistry. I began to meet renowned artists and I decided to take up again my passion for painting. Now I have my own studio and I also teach art at the local school. I also teach at my studio, and I have diversified my work to include interior design and murals.

"My goal is to create more work in the area where I live. I hope my work inspires others who share my vision." "
