"I was born in Mexico City. I'm Jose Martin Levario and I create colorful compositions with straw.
"This is a very meticulous art, therefore I consider myself a patient and persistent man. This wonderful passion of mine has forced me to further develop these qualities over time.
"It was in the Casa de la Cultura de Nezahualcoyotl that I decided to study a craft. I was seeking something that would let me use my hands in a very precise and unique manner. And this is what I found in popotillo, or straw paintings. It lets me do this in a very special way.
"By creating beautiful landscapes day and night, I believe I've grown as a person. Imagining a beautiful hillside or a mountain and patiently creating the image has transformed me.
"Some of my greatest sources of inspiration are the incredible landscapes of Mexico. They reveal an astonishing array of colors that dazzle the eyes.
"I especially remember when I was studying. I'd stay up all night without sleeping because I love what I do.
"I love sharing the magic of our country. Inspiring and sharing the results of my hard and passionate work is always an objective much greater than I am.""
