Mixed feelings
While the carving was nice and the function was great, the dark wood did not enhance the piece. It is difficult to see the carving features due to the darkness of the stain.

Wayan Nuliati's adorable eyeglass holder is charming, practical, and unique--the perfect place for your spectacles when you're not using them. The Balinese artisan hand carves the holder from suar wood with fun, stylized details, then paints the surface a deep black.

"My name is Ni Wayan Nuliati. I was born in Sukawati in 1968, the first of four children. My parents were farmers.
"Bali is a region of Indonesia which is famous for its beautiful scenery, its friendly people, tolerance, and a rich variety of cultures and ethnicities.
"I used to help my parents in any way I could. I worked in a restaurant as a teen. But most of the villagers in the area are wood-carvers, creating beautiful relief panels, sculptures and masks. "In my free time, I like gym and physical exercises. After graduating from high school, I got married. My husband is a skilled wood-carver and I learned this art from him.""
