8 Piece Brown Chulucanas Ceramic Nativity Scene - Peaceful Nativity

Rotund figurines depict the Holy Family and the Three Kings of the Christmas story. a gentle cow and sleep burro accompany them in this eight-piece nativity scene. Master artisan Gerasimo Sosa works in ceramic in the classic style of Chulucanas, using techniques that derive from the ancient Vicus culture. The artisan fires the handcrafted figurines, then applies a slip glaze and burnishes the pieces with a stone. He then covers the white areas with slip and fires the pieces a second time in a reduction kiln using mango leaves. The smoke results in the black areas while the protected areas preserve their original color.
