"My name is Nancy Margried. I was born in the city of Medan, North Sumatra. My parents came from a family of farmers and were the first generation to successfully attend university. Our family places great importance on education so, when I was young, I was always given the best learning facilities possible so that we could become successful people.
"Because of my interest in Indonesian culture, creativity, and design, I decided to start crafting after graduating from college. Starting independently is very difficult. Everything is done alone and there are limitations. Slowly, I survived and continued this struggle until now it has been 10 years since I began.
"During 2021, I collaborated with batik artisans in the Temanggung area to identify what the potential for developing batik designs. We made batik stamps together, finalizing the designs and creating metal and bamboo stamps. I believe batik can flow through the times through innovation instead of confining it in a rigid standard.
"I have obtained many awards and recognition:
112 Most Prospective Indonesian Innovation Works (2020)
