THE STORY BEHIND THE PRODUCT

Artisan Organization: Dhea Pramesthi
Country: Bali & Java
"My name is Dhea Pramesthi. I was born in Denpasar in 1998. I come from Celuk Sukawati village, a place full of memories and well known for its diverse silver and copper jewelry craftsmanship. When I was 8 years old and still in elementary school, I was introduced to silver jewelry, such as necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, and more. By the time I was 15, I had already started helping my parents at their jewelry store. The first thing I learned was how to sell jewelry in my parents’ store. After finishing university, I became more dedicated to this craft.
"I am very passionate about silver jewelry because it allows me to express my ideas, and there are so many things I can create. Since childhood, I have enjoyed selling in my parents’ shop, and I was very dedicated to my role as a sales promotion girl at the time.
"During my school years, I was passionate about playing softball. Now that I have graduated, I enjoy playing tennis and practicing Pilates. I am not yet married and do not have children because I want to achieve my dreams and build my career as a jewelry entrepreneur.
"I once heard a quote that inspired me: 'If you make a mistake, fix it. If you fail, try again. If you give up, everything will be over.'
"Another quote that motivates me in life is: 'Failure is a small problem, but giving up is a big one.'
"As a designer and business owner, I manage my employees' work schedules. I currently have six employees—two women and four men—one of whom is a family member.
"The material I use is 92.5% sterling silver, which is very eco-friendly and recyclable. The tools I use include a stove, scissors, blendes (a traditional jewelry-making tool), pliers, and a polishing machine.
"The signature style of my silver craftsmanship combines traditional Balinese silverwork with modern trends. In the past, this type of jewelry was used for ceremonies in Bali and as accessories for traditional Balinese clothing. Each region in Indonesia has its own unique motifs and techniques for making jewelry.
"I have a friendly, loyal, and hardworking personality. I was excited to hear from my colleagues about Novica, a platform that can help promote my products worldwide. I truly hope Novica can assist me in making my silver jewelry more well-known, both domestically and internationally.""
