Medieval Reverse Painted Tray - Theodora
In reverse glass painting, the design is silk screened onto the reverse side of the glass. The painting is done “back to front”: details painted first, then larger color areas, and finally a background color. This technique dates back to the middle ages and requires great care and skill, as the visual “surface” is painted first then layered over, so errors cannot be corrected.
Due to the handcrafted nature of our products, slight variations enhance authenticity.
Measurements: 15” diameter.
Materials: Reverse painted glass, MDF.
Country of Origin: Peru* Due to the artisanal nature of this product, color and size may vary.
THE STORY BEHIND THE PRODUCT
Artisan Organization:Manos Amigas
Created on February 27, 1991, we are an alternative commerce organization which distributes a variety of products to the growing fair trade markets in the United States and Europe. We partner with talented artisans across Perú to find new markets for their products, communicate trends in product design, and deliver ongoing capacity-building opportunities. Among the products we export are ceramics, jewelry, wind chimes, gourds, retablos, and textiles."
Very pretty, lots of compliments
I received the first tray broken but was quickly sent a second one packaged much better and it is simply beautiful - I know I will use it often.
This tray is gorgeous! The first one I received was broken and they replaced it all before Mother’s Day- I was very thankful and the person I bought if for loved it!
This tray is amazing! The photos simply can't show how beautiful it really is and the colors go well with almost everything I have. Perfect! Just perfect!
