Few artforms inspire as much awe at earth’s natural resources as handblowing glass. It takes a talented artisan to form the molten material into elegant, sculptural vessels. The city of Tonalá, in the Mexican state of Jalisco, is a handicraft hub specializing in pottery and glass.
Cristaluc is dedicated to preserving the glassblowing artform. Established in 2001, the organization currently employs more than 40 local artisans, providing a steady income and a supportive, inspiring space for them to practice their art. It takes 8-14 glassmakers working as a team to produce these stunning wine glasses.
I got a pair of these and the quality is better than I expected. They are a good weight and size and absolutely beautiful. The rainbow iridescent of the glass is just beautiful.
These dishes are so beautiful that I wound up with a set of eight! The shimmer in the light. The glass is good, heavy glass too. I tend to use these for berry/yogurt parfaits, or berry/whipped cream parfaits rather than for ice cream. Oh, and we have had a few floats in them, too, with the straws! Beautiful and fun!
I purchased these for a gift so I'm not using them, but they are stunning. I know they will be a well loved item!
