THE STORY BEHIND THE PRODUCT
Artisan Organization: Cristaluc
Few artforms inspire as much awe at earth’s natural resources as handblowing glass. It takes a talented artisan to form the molten material into elegant, sculptural vessels. The city of Tonalá, in the Mexican state of Jalisco, is a handicraft hub specializing in pottery and glass.
Cristaluc is dedicated to preserving the glassblowing artform. Established in 2001, the organization currently employs more than 40 local artisans, providing a steady income and a supportive, inspiring space for them to practice their art. It takes 8-14 glassmakers working as a team to produce these stunning wine glasses.
So fun to use this decanter with the matching stemless wine glasses! It’s just beautiful! I absolutely love Mexican glass!
This is the perfect gift to compliment the wine glasses and they make a great gift for anyone for any reason.
Goes beautifully with other 'colorful' glassware
While I have yet to use this for its intended function, it's a gorgeous piece that's even better looking in person than I anticipated. I decided to buy it after seeing another person pair this with one of the stemless wine glasses turned upside down and nestled in the lip of the pitcher as a topper for a bedside water vessel. Since I have the wine glasses on the way, I was attracted to the idea of having water at the ready and in a pretty and classy way, better than sitting a water bottle on my nightstand.
The craftsmanship is superb and it's a quality piece of sturdy, solid glassware. I was impressed and pleased.
In the same order, I also got the martini glass, which is generously sized. The pitcher isn't huge, but can still hold a decent amount of liquid. It would definitely make a nice vase, if that option was preferable.
Right now I'm still waiting on my stemless wine glasses and first box, like many others are too. But this shipped next day and reached me within the week. My orders since this one, which I placed the last week of September, have not yet shipped. It's October 21. They're moving warehouses and cautioned delays, but this is a review for the product and not for GlobeIn.
But nothing arrived chipped or broken or compromised. In total, I've received three pieces of glassware from GlobeIn and all arrived safe and sound. I'm waiting on more, but I definitely can't wait to cap this off with the stemless wine glasses and make good use of it on my nightstand!
