THE STORY BEHIND THE PRODUCT
Artisan Organization: Bemos Crafts
Judith Adhiambo, 33 years married and a mother of four children, has enjoyed the arts since her childhood. When Judith came to Nairobi in early 1998, she lived in Kibera slums. While living in poor conditions, she worked hard to gain the skill of beadworking. Several years later, she had perfected the art of jewelry-making, and found a job with a local craft group. She even started her own small business, in order to provide for her family.
Judith is grateful that her passion in art has helped pay school fees for her two children. She is also able to pay for her family’s daily needs, and she is thankful for the ability to do so!
The craftsmanship on these chopsticks are very impressive and I love the elephants but the chopsticks are untreated and I'm not sure how well these would hold up. Looks more like a single use item than a multi use one. I guess you just have to be careful not to leave the chopsticks immersed in the liquid for an extended time.
