THE STORY BEHIND THE PRODUCT
Artisan Organization: Matr Boomie
A highly revered art form native to Rajasthan, India, block printing is a labor-intensive and painstaking process that produces intricate, one-of-a-kind designs. First, wood blocks are carved with ornate patterns that may take days to complete. Total mastery in carving is required for the rest of the process to be a success.
Artisans press the carved blocks into wet dye and then apply them to fabric multiple times and with great precision. When the pattern is complete, washing or boiling the fabric allows the final color to surface. Because color changes throughout the process, each piece results as its own unique expression of the craft.
Your new pouch is therefore unlike any other! With its functional canvas lining and funky tassel pull, it is also smartly multi-purpose. Use for storing your cosmetics while traveling, then convert into a foldover clutch purse!
